Horizontal spacing
A proportional rhythmic curve, single-object bars centered, room reserved for leading accidentals and grace notes.
Beaming
Slopes, secondary-beam levels and hooks, and beams that cross between the two staves of a keyboard part.
Stems and voices
Two-voice rules (upper voice up, lower down), forked stems for altered unisons, cross-voice coordination on a shared staff.
Accidentals and dots
Tidy accidental columns, ledger lines, augmentation dots, and cautionary key signatures at system breaks.
Chords
Second-interval displacement and stacked seconds resolved cleanly.
Slurs and ties
Direction, curvature, depth, and the fine rules that keep a chord’s ties fanning apart so they never collide.
Spanning notation
Slurs, ties, hairpins, brackets, octave and pedal lines, glissandi, trill extensions, voltas, and tuplet brackets split correctly across system and page breaks.
Grouping
