Why it is free

We give back

Arpezia Notation is free for personal and commercial use, with no feature gates, no watermarks, and no account. That is a deliberate choice, not an introductory offer. Notation is a craft refined over centuries and a standard kept in the open, and a faithful tool for it belongs in as many hands as possible.

Why it stays free.

For the community

Students, teachers, arrangers, copyists, and composers all need to write notation cleanly, and most of that work never earns a fee. A professional editor should not sit behind a price only a studio can justify. So everyone gets the same full editor, from a student’s first score to a professional’s published one.

Built on open work

Arpezia stands on generous foundations: the MusicXML standard, the published engraving literature, the SMuFL symbol set, and 8 music fonts under open licenses. We inherited a commons. Giving a serious editor back to it is how we say thank you.

A healthier standard

MusicXML stays useful when many applications read and write it faithfully. Every score saved in an open format keeps the standard healthy and keeps your music portable for decades. A free, compliant editor puts that within reach of anyone, on any machine.

No catch

How a free tool stays free.

Arpezia Notation is one part of a larger ecosystem. The Arpezia Platform is the paid product, and it includes and supports the editor. So the editor carries no ads, sells no data, and will not grow a paywall later. And because every file you save is standard MusicXML, you are never locked in, which is the strongest promise we can make that free will stay free.

Use it like it’s yours.
Because it is. No trial clock, no upgrade nag, and no email to get started. Launch Arpezia Notation and start creating.
Beyond notation
